Ayşegül Vera Sağlam’s reflection and experiences:

The material I had a chance to edit was “Book of the Oppressed”, which was about the working class, workers and their rights, and child labour, as its name indicates. It is a material that can raise students’ awareness of the class issue, the high rate of child labor and its detrimental effects on children, workers’ rights which are usually violated or not even recognized, what adult and/or child workers are faced with for the sake of earning a little money to keep “surviving” and that they cannot even have dreams except feeding themselves and their families. It can draw students’ attention to the oppressed class and may even push them to take a step, take action and move for them, and be the voice of those silenced and oppressed.
