Zeynep Erden’s reflection and experiences:
This project has been an experience of development, cooperation, and fortitude. From the start, we were thrilled to be a part of something worthwhile, and as we advanced, we became more and more accountable. It has been immensely satisfying to watch the finished product come to life, and it has strengthened our resolve to increase access to education.
Simay Akar’s reflection and experiences:
Redesigning the ELT material was a really good experience. The process involved thorough research, creative planning, and continuous revisions to ensure the material met pedagogical goals. Our content was also very interesting. Collaborating with my peers allowed me to gain new insights and refine my ideas, highlighting the importance of feedback in material development. One of the key takeaways was learning how to balance language complexity with clarity, ensuring the tasks remained stimulating yet accessible. This experience both strengthened my material design skills and also deepened my understanding of how to address the specific needs of advanced learners.
Zeynep Suda Doğan’s reflection and experiences:
As part of my Community Service course, I worked on redesigning an English teaching material focused on gender equality and feminism and made it publicly accessible through a digital platform. This project allowed me to explore the intersection of education, technology, and social awareness, ensuring that the content was both linguistically enriching and socially relevant. By integrating discussions on gender equality into language learning, we aimed to foster critical thinking and inclusivity while making the resource widely available. This experience enhanced my skills in digital content development, collaboration, and inclusive teaching, reinforcing my belief in the power of education to drive social change.
